We dont need to bring you the news. You can read on every newspaper and website about the Israeli invasion of Gaza and the worlds reaction to it. In many European countries, Jews have been attacked and Jewish sites vandalized. In England alone, 20 anti-Semitic incidents per day were being reported in the first week of the war; now it has gone up to 30 per day. Here in America, hate-filled slogans are heard at pro-Palestinian demonstrations, such as kill all the Jews and Jews go back to the ovens.
We ask our readers: is it worthwhile for Jews to arouse such sentiments and reactions? The Israeli government claims to be defending its citizens against rocket attacks. Quite aside from the fact that the rocket attacks have continued unabated since the beginning of the invasion, the Israelis actions are making the entire world a more dangerous place for Jews. A Jew who goes to Indonesia or India or almost anywhere in the world is now a legitimate target. At best, the Israelis have exchanged one threat for another.
So many Jews have already died as the price for the militant ideology of Zionism. Most of them have died within the borders of the State of Israel or in its wars, but now, more and more, we see that Jews around the world suffer as innocent casualties of the State of Israels conflicts.
To make matters worse, the so-called religious political parties in the State of Israel are using Judaism - the Torah and Jewish prayer to further their agenda. They have organized prayer gathering to recite Psalms for the Israeli soldiers. All these public displays associating the Jewish religion with the attack on Gaza only serve to bring Judaism under attack throughout the world. We implore these parties: if you dont want to keep the Torah and serve G-d, thats your business but dont use the Torah and the name of G-d to support your battles.
With all of the above in mind, Jewish Response calls for an immediate ceasefire, and an immediate end to the use of the Torah for political and military purposes.
